• STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESS •
• Student eligibility will run from the summer between the eighth grade and freshman year of high
school to the summer between the junior and senior year of college.
• Students may be from families of either Rotarians or non-Rotarians.
• Students will be nominated and interviewed by individual Rotary clubs in the area in which they live.
• Clubs may nominate more than one student.
• Students may be eligible to go on a Short Term Exchange more than once.
• The club will interview the student and family in their home, and must have agreement from the
family that they will also host a student during the same summer exchange period before
submitting the application.
• When interviewing the family, determine suitability as a host family by deciding if you would be
comfortable having your own son or daughter in their home for four weeks.
• The club will have the student complete the STEP application form. The application may be
downloaded from this link.
• Applications may also be mailed upon request.
• The final deadline for submission of STEP application forms is November 30th. Students whose
nominations are received by that date will receive preference in country assignments and are
required to attend the outbound student orientation to be held in January. (This requirement may
be waived for repeating short term students or prior long term students now applying for a short
term exchange)
• Students applying after December 31st will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
