It is my great pleasure to announce that our District Governor Nominating Committee has selected Deniel Banks of the Portland Rotary club as our District Governor Nominee Designate. When ratified at the District Conference at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches, Oregon on May 22nd, she will serve as District Governor for the Rotary year 2012-13.
Deniel is superbly qualified. Deniel became a Rotarian in 1994. Nine months later she became a “real” Rotarian on a District World Community Service (WCS) trip to Guatemala. Deniel is a major supporter of The Rotary Foundation (TRF), a recipient of TRF’s ‘Service Above Self’ Award, a founding member and treasurer of the Rotarian Action Group for Microcredit (RAGM), and Zone 25’s Health and Hunger Resource Group Coordinator.
DW Banks Company, Inc. is Deniel’s organizational, executive, and leadership development firm specializing in family-owned businesses, non-profit boards, and international programs.
Deniel is married with two sons; husband Warren is also a member of the Portland Rotary club and the District’s World Community Service Chair.
If any club wishes to challenge the selected candidate, the challenge must be submitted to me by December 18, 2009. (For provisions for a challenge, please see 13.020.8, page 225 of the Manual of Procedure).
In closing, I urge each of you to take the time to become acquainted with Deniel at future district functions. She is an outstanding Rotarian and a person of vision in supporting the Rotary mission of “Service above Self”.
